How Points Are Calculated in Baccarat
Baccarat's scoring system works differently from most card games — cards two through nine carry their face value, while tens, jacks, queens, and kings are worth zero. Aces count as one. When a hand's total exceeds nine, only the last digit counts. For example, 7 + 8 = 15, so the hand value is 5. This makes eight and nine the highest values achievable, and players never need to make any decisions about card values — everything is determined by automatic rules.
